Stop the ACLU in Florida

The American Civil Liberties Union asked a federal judge to stop the Miami-Dade County school district from removing a series of children's books from its libraries, including a volume about Cuba which depicts smiling kids in communist uniforms.

The ACLU and the Miami-Dade County Student Government Association argued in a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Miami on Wednesday that the school board should add materials with alternate viewpoints rather than remove books that could be offensive.

Last week, the board voted 6-3 to remove "Vamos a Cuba" and its English-language version, "A Visit to Cuba" from 33 schools, stating the books were inappropriate for young readers because of inaccuracies and omissions about life in the communist nation.

The book, by Alta Schreier, targets students ages 5 to 7 and contains images of smiling children wearing uniforms of Cuba's communist youth group and a carnival celebrating the 1959 Cuban revolution. The district owns 49 copies of the book in Spanish and English.

To the ACLU it doesn't seem to matter that the books are misleading, inaccurate, and inappropriate for this age group. It doesn't matter to the ACLU that the book is pure propaganda. To the ACLU it is a book ban. It just so happens that the message portrayed in the book seems to go along with their founder's beliefs.

I'm sure the ACLU's founder would be proud of the ACLU's move to protect the propaganda of his ideology. The ACLU's main point of argument is that banning one point of view is the wrong way to deal with the situation is lost when it is five year olds potentially being exposed to this crap. To the ACLU this is nothing more than a book ban, and they are asking the school to include more alternative views instead of banning unpopular ones. No one has to ask if they would fight this hard to keep a Bible in the school library, or whether their strength would be focused on getting rid of it. Take this however you want, but the ACLU has never strayed very far from its founding principles.

Carnival of Cordite #62 - The Right to Bear Arms Shall Not Be Infringed

My bad, it's been up and I was late and now I'm later still.
But there's good stuff there, especially about plans and working groups that the UN has, with the intention of disarming American citizens. The UN is an idiotic and dangerously corrupt institution.
In another post is a report on the efforts to somehow revive the Winchester old-rifle tradition. Personally I don't understand the lack of "Marketing Geniuses" at Winchester. They have staring them in the face one of the most respected and lucrative firearms branding opportunities - a Winchester AR. To quote my own comment: I think Winchester missed the tactical mark. Military Winchester M1-Garands and M1-Carbines have always done extremely well - and if Winchester produced an AR receiver, a relatively cost-effective and simple forging and C-N-C proposition, they would find an incredibly hospitable, ready, and growing market. The guys who are making and selling AR's and AR-parts are practically minting money, and even Smith & Wesson is in it now - hell, Remington should get in there too! It'd really be like the good-old days of American Arms; Colt, S&W, Winchester, Remington, and why not Ithaca too? The hell with the Euroweenies and their 9's.

Taliban Terrorists use Women and Children as Human Shields

The Religion of Peace as demonstrated by the Taliban has such a contempt for women that one wonders what possible attraction it would have for any woman. The latest example of the value placed on women is a report by British troops in Afghanistan describing how women and children are used to shield Taliban fighters. While the world wrings its hands over Haditha the Taliban routinely shoves women and children into the front of the firelight. You can be sure that if one "civilian" is killed by coalition troops the Islamist will squawk to the western media as if they themselves have never sullied the name of the Religion of Peace by hiding behind women and children.

The tactics were revealed in the first account by those who fought in one of the main battles faced by the men of 3 Para and the Royal Gurkha Rifles in Helmand province, where 3,300 British troops are stationed.
"It happened twice where they pushed women and children in front of them. The first time they ran into a compound and pushed them out the front to stop the assault," said Corporal Quintin Poll, 29, from Norfolk.
The second time they were firing through a building with women and children inside. My guys had to go around the left and right to get them."

The hearts and minds of the Afghan people are lost to the Taliban. They cannot after such desperate measures do more than become a thorn in the side of the emerging civilization in the region.
If the western press could let go of its loathing of western society and acknowledge the contrast of British soldiers working get around the human shields to get at the beasts hiding behind them, we may get results even more quickly than we are.
Some religion that they got there to inspire such behavior...

Holographic Holeocentric Displacement Inductions

It has come to my attention by advise, insinuation, or even a moment of clarity that the photographic evidence of distant paper displacement, in small .30-caliber units is not the most exciting pursuit-process, nonetheless and without too much else that is evidentiary besides a hunch, here is another example of a small artistic grouping.

Measurements were taken in the traditional method and displacement factors applied.

In the physiological study, one of the control-factors was the quantification of Caffeine Intake (CI) which had previously been measured in Pots-emptied (Pi+), but on this occasion was simply measured in cups-consumed (Cc). The Cook, The Dies, His Brass, and the Powder

There's really only one recipe for the Carbine when shot from the Carbine, with the spice choices limited to salt or pepper: a 110-grain round-nose or a 110-grain FMJ. No vanilla or saffron here, no exotic bouillabaisse coctktail.
A friend from the Club with too much stuff and too many interests to pursue sold me his Carbine dies, powder, brass, and bullets. Now I have a 3-die bullet set to learn, and with it taper-crimping - this is new territory, change is good. Ok, fine whatever.
In my Sierra manual H110 powder is shown over other powder choices as both the accuracy load and the hunting load - but I'm only interested in the accuracy part. I have about half a pound but the requirements are small, tiny even - 13.8 grains.

Ban Attempt Defeated

Why is it that social libertines who "Speak Truth to Power," "Fight the Man," and allow no intrusion by Big Brother, gleefully and orgiastically fling themselves and impress others into a state of prohibitionary defenselessness? As Deb so correctly says,

Victimhood is all the Left knows. Success is never celebrated on the Left. They never overcome anything - when they get close to achieving their goals, they change their goals to insist on more. The cannot embrace self-defense, because it rules out the idea of being a victim.

Fortunately more sane legal heads prevailed but the real problem is endemic in the retro-beatnick ultra-sophisticated citizenry and the Old-Socialist-Guard of San Francisco - some of the most naive, deluded, and arrogant black-wearing hipsters on the planet. The political reality is they are so fractionalized by lock-step Diversity that only a chaotic amalgam of weak and porous coalitions exist within the city (and makes Palestine by comparison look like a shining example of Solidarity).
The City Supervisors evidently take their label literally and hold the conviction that, (1.) they a’re always right (Left) about everything, (2.) by a vote they can overrule and affect the outcome of Physics (it works with old acid-heads, so why not?), (3.) being superior to the benighted, dull, and cloddish suburban-masses surrounding them in their island fantasy-kingdom they are a Supreme Law unto Themselves - The City didn't get the nickname Baghdad-by-the-Bay for nnuthin’.
The proof in the delusional pudding was that they actually thought the ordnance was "a reasonable, narrowly tailored restriction on handgun possession," In fact it illegally outlawed possession of handguns by all city residents except law enforcement officers and others who needed the guns for "professional purposes", (the Left always makes an exemption for their security apparatus) and forbidden the manufacture, sale and distribution of all guns and ammunition in San Francisco -- which lends a new definition to what narrow means, unless it's narrow-minded.
All this force brought to bear upon law-abiding citizens in an attempt to end "gun violence" caused by criminals and non law-abiding outlaws.   As observed by commenter David:

In fact, it would be tough to get the SF Board of Supervisors to approve a gun-ban ordinance that was narrowly tailored to serve in a proper Supreme Court test case, precisely because they a’re such a bunch of lefty power-mad clowns that they will always go for more sweeping, idealistic pronunciamentos than for realistic, practical measures.

Victimhood is the pivotal Shrine of the Left and they will install it by any means necessary - it beatifies them and turns their murderous, blood-stained footsoldiers into Saints. It is the Lie that supports their shrine of falsehoods. Here they attempted to make others wear the stained vestaments, but were thankfully rebuffed by adults who know the Truth when they see it.

Zark is Fark

Thankfully the Blessings Of The Heaven-Sent Bomb resides upon him that with evil lust delighted in head-chopping and the random murder of innocents with the Hell-Bomb from Below - women and children alike. May he rest uncomfortably in small, burning pieces.

The Leftosphere Loonatards huddle in myopia and wrap their tinfoil tightly - they keep saying that it's hopeless, "because another will simply rise up and take his place" to begin anew, but despite Al Quaeda's fairly successful attempt at projecting the image of Global Teror Incorporated - they really aren't structurally organized with a line of succession the way any real corporate entity is, and while they invoke the entire World of Islam as their shareholders, but it's really the narrow confines of monomaniacal Wahabism to which they respond.

It's much more of a feudal system, as most corporations actually are - but real corporations have legal duties and shareholder responsibilities that shape their structure. These murderers are organized according to the Eastern-Despot management style (as is their native cultural bent), with a leadership Guy around whom others are drawn and held. It's not a Management Team per-se - their officers and the chain of command is a vertical alignment of charisma and skill, descending in degrees of each and tinged with insanity, down to the discreet cell-structure of the lesser entities where drug-fueled madmen reside.
With the demise of an important and agressive lunatic marketing their regional campaign of terror, murder, kidnapping, and mayhem such as this Team-Leader was, they will have to do an exhaustive global administrative search for the next qualified candidate. It's hard to find good and really bug-nuts crazy help these days, they tend to be self-eliminating.

Carbine Workout

I finally got the National Postal Meter Carbine out for a little dog-walk exercise at one of our mid-week noontime gatherings. Here is a compilation of Wednesday's 200-yard exercise, firing for effect with both the inexpensive Wal-Mart Remington/UMC cartridges and the more pricey American Eagle loads.


Each of the four magazines I loaded and fired had last-round failure-to-feed problems, with the last round failing to be stripped off and go into battery - it remained stuck, pointed into the side of the feed-ramp. Only by rocking the magazine forward and slapping the forward base would it then comply.
The dimples on the rear of the magazine that catch and hold the magazines in place are noticeably smaller and less pronounced than my GI magazine, and once in the rifle the mag has more opportunity to move around.


Next time out I'll examine the 100-yard and 50-yard hole-punching finesse for which the gun was actually designed. As a self-defense round or in the case of civil unrest (for which this is an ideal helpmate on the order of a .357 Magnum), there's nowhere from any of our windows or doors that extends out to 200-yards anyhow.

Best of the Worst

We shot our sighters and then the Slow Prone stage, running the Garand Match backwards using 200-yard targets for all the stages. I managed three X's (that a triple there), six 10's, and kept the rest all inside the eight-ring. We doubled the rapid stages and shot both prone and seated onto the same target, since we had two relays and wanted to speed things up. I got another X and three 10's since my seated position was bouncy - got eight 9's though. Managed another X in Offhand, and four 9's to close the event. That gave me an aggregate of 435-5X - enough to win-out over the other Marksman-level guys and receive a little pin. Kewl!! I'm a weiner!! It's the first time I've won anything shooting.

Bye-bye little birdies

They've been fluttering about, overhead a few times this morning, but today they fly away again...

I didn't get a good picture of the B-25 in flight, it never came as close overhead as the other two. I like living here where I can see and enjoy all of Nature's aluminum-skinned winged bounty. Even the big-old nest left behind by the giant airship Macon of years ago. My dad was at the Academy with the guy who's dad flew it into the Pacific off Monterey, same fellow was also one of two survivors of the Akron crash - kinda like that Kennedy guy and PT boats I guess, heh - Navy dudes... :-)
