I think it was Og's observation that hit hardest, The Long Con. When you see the Evil Clowns (pictured below) of the the House and Senate cackling with glee, the very same people who set up the rigged-game and then kneeled down behind the standing population to give 'em a push - they should be keel-hauled over the worst barnacles in the water of ten-thousand 1.6-gal flush-toilets, not rewarded. Chris Dodd should be in JAIL, along with Barney Frank and the rest of the slimeball scuzzbuckets who personally benefited from the crooked scheme they cooked up and foisted on The Citizenry and sluiced-away for personal earnings - and NONE of them should be any part of the Bailout or it's Congressional or Senatorial spin-offs. They should be in DC - but behind bars, wearing broad, fashionable, horizontal stripes - and breaking rocks in the hot sun - that's where WE would be if ANY of us tried a freelance scheme like that which they organized.
And they should NOT be returned to office, not even as dog-turd collector. And Pelosi should be in a sanitarium where she belongs, she clearly needs meds - and a white coat with straps wouldn't hurt her a bit. She'd be stylin' with the rest of the patients. And she can pay for that on her own Blue-Cross dime.

In Comments Brigid notes: Just last year, FactCheck's primary funding source, the Annenberg Foundation, also gave $50,000 to the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence for "efforts to reduce gun violence by educating the public and by enacting and enforcing regulations governing the gun industry." Annenberg made a similar grant for $100,000 in 2005. I wonder if any of the Annenberg Foundation money made it to the phony, lying, astroturf, "American Hunters and Shooters Association" who purport to support shooting but don't.

Obama Goon Squad - Giving a Bad Name to "Truthers"?

Despite substantial evidence and criticism of his own misleading ads by the New York Times, Barak Obama's Camapign has taken a thuggish turn towards intimidation and police-state prosecution and has stated that St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch and St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, (both Obama supporters), are implying that they will bring criminal libel charges against anyone who levels what turns out to be false criticisms of their chosen candidate for President. It may work as intimidation, on the other hand it may only be thuggish intent:

In 1964, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a landmark decision, New York Times vs Sullivan, that set the benchmark for libel vis-a-vis "public figures," of which Barack Obama is certainly one. If a public figure brings a civil libel lawsuit against an individual or a group, then s/he has to prove to a civil jury (usually nine out of twelve jurors) that a preponderance of the evidence (i.e. it is more likely than not) shows that the defendant(s) knowingly said or wrote something factually incorrect about the plaintiff(s). If a prosecutorial authority brings criminal libel charges against a defendant on behalf of a plaintiff, as McCulloch and Joyce are threatening to do, then the prosecutor has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt to twelve out of twelve jurors that the defendant knowingly said or wrote something factually incorrect about the defendant.

FactCheck Lies in the Media Covering for Obama

Barak NoPistolero Obama does in fact have a long trail of evidence going straight to gun-bans, along with every other way imaginable that could possibly twist and divert the 2nd Amendment into unrecognizable rhetoric.
"Barak Would Ban the Manufacture, Sale and Possession of Handguns" - Yep, Obama supported a ban on the sale of all semi-automatic guns, a ban that would encompass the vast majority of guns sold in the U.S. - and FactCheck.Org lies about that too. He supported the illegal Washington DC gun-ban and every other gun-ban he ever came acoss.
"Barack Obama opposes my right to own a handgun for self-defense" - Yep, Obama opposed letting people use a self-defense argument if charged with violating local handgun bans by using weapons in their homes. Can't have 'em and can't use 'em and if you do it's jail for you. FactCheck.Org lies about that and re-writes the statement to fit their own convoluted logic.
"Ban Rifle Ammunition Commonly Used for Hunting and Sport Shooting" - Yep, Obama voted for a bill that would "expand the definition of armor piercing ammunition," and FactCheck.Org lies about that and even calls Ted Kennedy a liar for saying the bill "is not about hunting." Obama or Kennedy - who to believe?
"Appoint Judges to the U.S. Supreme Court and Federal Judiciary Who Share His Views on the Second Amendment" - Yep, Obama has said that he "profoundly disagree[s] with [Clarence Thomas’] interpretation of a lot of the Constitution." He has also been critical of Antonin Scalia, John Roberts and Samuel Alito. These four justices provided four of the five votes to strike down the D.C. gun ban, with Scalia writing the majority opinion. FactCheck.Org lies again and twists the wording to say that Obama hasn’t explicitly stated he would appoint judges using such a litmus test.
"Mandate a Government-Issued License to Purchase a Firearm" - Yep, Obama has clearly supported licensing handguns and the Illinois Firearms Owners Identification (FOID) Card that serves as a license to buy ANY type of firearm and voted to make it illegal for anyone to possess a firearm without a FOID card. FactCheck.Org lies without even any substantive support, that he's not what his voting record says he is.
"Increase Federal Taxes on Guns and Ammunition by 500 Percent" and "Close Down 90 Percent of Gun Shops in America" - Yep, Obama has clearly held these positions in the past and has never said that he has changed his mind one bit on either of them. And again, FactCheck.Org lies without any substantive support, saying that he's not what his voting record and past statements clearly show he is.
FactCheck.Org has lost any credibility with me. Obama would be "The most anti-gun president in American history" - without any doubt.

Former Enron CEO and Bush Contributor Ken Lay presided over a measly $65 Billion collapse and no taxpayer bailout. Meanwhile Fannie Mae CEO's, weighing in with a $6.5 Trillion collapse and with a taxpayer bailout. The Center for Responsive Politics keeps track of which politicians get Fannie and Freddie political contributions. The top three U.S. Senators getting big Fannie and Freddie political bucks were Democrats and number two is Senator Barack Obama.

Two guys who presided over the biggest financial disaster in modern times are shielded by Democrats who's policies they supported and encouraged. Ken Lay (deceased) became famous and was the subject of numerous SNL skits. Will the same fate befall these two, and what the hell do they look like? Jim Johnson, Former Fannie Mae CEO/Lehman Executive and now Obama Campaign Advisor/Contributor - Beginning in January of 1990 and continuing through December 1999 he was employed by Fannie Mae. He served as Vice Chairman (1990), Chairman and CEO (1991-1998), and Chairman of the Executive Committee (1999). Prior to joining Fannie Mae, Johnson was a managing director in corporate finance at Lehman Brothers. Before joining Lehman (now defunct), he was the president of Public Strategies, a Washington-based consulting firm he founded to advise corporations on strategic issues. Jim Johnson who was asked by Senator Barack Obama to start the search for a viable Vice Presidential candidate. Johnson did the same job for John Kerry in 2004 and Walter Mondale in 1984.

Franklin Raines, Former Fannie Mae CEO who served as White House budget director under President Bill Clinton, is currently employed by Barack Obama's Presidential Campaign as an economic adviser. In 2005 Fannie Mae's regulator reported that the company's quarterly reports of profit growth over the past few years were "illusions deliberately and systematically created" by the company's senior management, which resulted in a $10.6 Billion accounting scandal. The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight's report goes on to say that Fannie Mae employees deliberately and intentionally manipulated financial reports to hit earnings targets in order to trigger bonuses for senior executives. In the case of Franklin Raines, Fannie Mae's former chief executive officer, OFHEO's report shows that over half of Mr. Raines' compensation for the 6 years through 2003 was directly tied to meeting earnings targets. The report of financial misconduct at Fannie Mae echoes the deeply troubling $5 billion profit restatement at Freddie Mac.
In 2005 there was an itty-bitty oopsie $10.6 Billion problem.
In 2006, the OFHEO announced a suit against Raines in order to recover some or all of the $50 million in payments made to Raines based on the overstated earnings [4] initially estimated to be $9 billion but have been announced as 6.3 billion.[2]. In June 2008 Wall Street Journal reported that Franklin Raines was one of several politicians who received below market rates loans at Countrywide Financial (now in ruins) because the corporation considered the officeholders "FOA's"--"Friends of Angelo" (Countrywide Chief Executive Angelo Mozilo). He received loans for over $3 million while CEO of Fannie Mae. [5] Franklin Raines is currently one of Barack Obama's chief economic advisers. (my emphasis) Just going on how they so successfully glommed onto huge amounts of personal gain and cash-money, I'd say they were Uniters, united in the spirit of gainfulness...

That's who's advising Mr. Barak Obama on political policy and finance issues, not Ken Lay (who's dead), who's Non-Taxpayer-Bailout scandal was worth only a fraction of a percentage of these guy's.

In short: Ken Lay, Enron, $65 Billion, no public bailout, congressional lynching - now he's dead.
Compared to: Jim Johnson and Franklin Raines, CEO's Fannie Mae, $6.5 TRILLION, taxpayer bailout to preserve a longtime Democrat-run DC feifdom and social engineering program, no hearings - Barak Obama's advisors in politics, finance, and housing...

Lenders now have the flexibility to use their own, customized loan products,” Gorelick said.

As a car-carrying paid-by-wheelbarrows-of-cash blogger I have to thank the NRA for its efforts: D.C. Second Amendment Enforcement Act Passes by an overwhelming bi-partisan vote of 266-152 in the House and moves to the Senate.

According to Sebastian an enthusiactic and heartfelt round of applause should go to Congressman Jason Altmire who got up on the House Floor and spoke in favor of HR6691:

When the D.C. City Council decided to ignore a ruling from the United States Supreme Court and when the District of Columbia decided to play games with the Constitution of the United States, it was they that brought us to the point where we are today, where congressional intervention is necessary to uphold the rights of Washington, D.C. citizens under the second amendment to the Constitution.

The Second Amendment Enforcement Act will:

Repeal the District’s ban on semi-automatic handguns. Semi-automatic pistols have been the most commonly purchased firearms in the United States over the last 20 years, and therefore a ban on those firearms is unconstitutional as decided by Heller;

Restore the right of self-defense by repealing the requirement that firearms be disassembled or secured with a trigger lock in the home;

Reform the current D.C. registration system that requires multiple visits to police headquarters; ballistics testing; passing a written test on D.C. gun laws; fingerprinting; and limiting registration to one handgun per 90 days. The current system is unduly burdensome and serves as a vehicle for even more onerous restrictions; and

Create a limited exemption to the federal ban on interstate handgun sales by allowing D.C. residents to purchase handguns in Virginia and Maryland. Currently there is only one licensed firearm dealer in the District, and the District government is standing in the way of additional dealers opening their doors. A 40-year old federal law prohibits residents from purchasing handguns outside of the District.

QD-Sling Attachment Fixture Failpoint

The Quick-Detach point on my sling won't stay goobered into either of the designated rail points - one quick tug and it's outta there. I cutaway around the plastic ladder to facilitate in-stickage, but it still pops out.
It sticks and stays captured fine in the stock-end where it can't even rotate because of the angle, but the fore-end points don't stay stuck. It's like the little squeezy ball-bearing spring-loaded pin-depth isn't deep enough to get behind the thickness of the rail-holes. Or something.

So to the rescue comes the not-rotating, non-QD, but ULTRA simple to attach, Haji's Choice! Yay!

Seven Years Ago

I am an infidel. I didn't realize how much of one, or what that fully meant to some people until seven years ago. Growing up overseas in the East, on the South Asian Sub-Continent, I had a lot of exposure and quite a few connections with Muslims in a mix of kids at boarding school.
I will not submit or surrender.
We studied, ate, and played sports together without thinking twice about it - but in the intervening thirty-plus years, something dark and nasty has crept up from the deepest, most buried horror of a diseased mind. A Hate-cult of Death Worshipers had emerged - people so bent and broken that they strapped bombs onto their own children and sent them into the street to die in messy, bloody, head-popping explosions - and in doing so kill innocent people. Like a sickness it had swept through a whole population of them and twisted them very badly, turning thousands of them into robotized, suicidal killers.
And then slowly, deliberately, they turned their hate and insanity towards us and attacked. It wasn't the first time, but it took a while for us to wake up and fully recognize it - shocked, slapped in the face by the falling people and the burning buildings, the death and destruction they wrought with their twisted minds.

S'a Beautiful Day in Teh Neighborhoodses

I've been inside all day. It's a fine and beautiful day and I've been inside all day - that's almost shameful - but I kept busy with a bunch of stuff on my 'puter.

Outside my window and across the fence-line I can I can hear the little retarded girl (or whatever she is, maybe it's her parents who are retarded and she's just autistic). This kid has but ONE volume setting for her vocalization and it occurs at Eleven. ELEVEN. You can hear her from the park further down the street, it's a piercing and near glass-shattering noise. It's not joyful - it's bullying.

Most all her utterances are at a SCREAM, and occasionally that's also all you get to hear for quite some time - until her mom or dad brings her inside. Other times it's the incessant ringing of a small bicycle bell. Apparently repetition is her friend (for long periods of time) - it's as if the last ringy-dingy were as fresh as the first ringy-dingy - which is one of the reasons I figure she's "developmentally" something. Special. And the repetition-behavior reminds me of Democrats. Surely doing the same thing over and over, unsuccessfully, yet fully expecting a successful (different) outcome by some kind of *magickal* happenstance, crystal-vision, or alignment of chakras - is the definition of crazy. Or retarded. It's like the first failure never happened, and each time is a *first* time. There is no institutional memory there, only a hole in the ground (probably half-full of organic compost).

Sometimes the noise the child makes is startling. It sounds like you ought to call the Cops because you wonder why in hell is a small child outside in the dark at 11:00PM, just SCREAMING AND SCREAMING AND SCREAMING. It sounds like you ought to call an Ambulance.

But things have started to fit into a pattern of behavior, one that now implicates the parents and their refusal or inability to discipline - because there are the time you hear playing, and you hear Daddy, and it's not all a screamfest - it's usually a lot of chaotic noise, but not the howl of a wounded animal. A frequent addendum is sobbing - at any prompt. And then the volume ramps UP.

Suddenly last Saturday Night at 8:40PM the whole "HelenKellerHowling" started up and ran for several minutes - howling screaming and hysterical caterwauling. We got up from the TV and and went to the other end of the house and hollered out our own window, "WHAT'S GOING ON THERE?!?" and "IS EVERYTHING ALL-RIGHT?!?!" Quickly their backyard lights went out, and it got dark and all quiet. Now THAT is really creepy. Are they beating the kid? How in the hell do they get that noise to stop reliably, so soon? A gag and hand-restraints? What happens when the noise stops? When do you call the Cops? In the past I have inquired, "DO YOU NEED AN AMBULANCE?!?!" - and gotten the same creepy no-response silent treatment.

We've been trying to keep a list of events and times and frankly it's pissing me off. How can parents abdicate their responsibility so easily, so cluelessly, so thoughtlessly, so selfishly - and let a child free to self-manage? No restraints. I don't have a very high opinion of their parenting skills. This one isn't gonna get into College, not the kind I went to anyhow. Maybe a Special College. Oh wait - I went to UC Santa Cruz, that's close enough. We're all on the Short Bus. Damn.
