Once the election is over, the glittering generalities of rhetoric and style will mean nothing. Everything will depend on performance in facing huge challenges, domestic and foreign.

Performance is where Barack Obama has nothing to show for his political career, either in Illinois or in Washington.

Policies that he proposes under the banner of "change" are almost all policies that have been tried repeatedly in other countries— and failed repeatedly in other countries.

Unemployment was 9 percent when that tariff was passed to save jobs, but unemployment went up instead of down, and reached 25 percent before the decade was over.

The Ministry of Justice insisted that the vast majority of offenders on probation had originally committed only minor offences, giving no clue that they would later commit serious crimes when on probation.

I think the operative acknowledgment here is, "No Clue"...

Harry Fletcher, assistant general secretary of Napo, the probation officers' union, said: "The number of offenders involved in further serious crimes is less than 0.5 per cent of the total under supervision.

"Obviously we would like to get that figure as low as we can but we are dealing with people with mental health problems, drug and alcohol addictions and further offences are inevitable."

So it's just percentages and statistics, and the Ministry of Justice said: "Any serious offence is of great concern and the Probation Service condemns the actions of any individual who is responsible for these offences.

Does that including the officials in the Ministry of Justice who released these criminal murderers? Probably not.

Obama Campaign Funding Fraud

It appears that the Obama Campaign is running credit-card acceptance at his donation site where address verification has been purposely nullified to enable outside and overseas transactions to be processed without regard to number or size, and the use of pre-paid cards is possible. The belief is that:

Something like $63 million has poured into Obama's coffers from foreign sources -- the tip there is that the donations end in pennies, like $43.36, which indicates they've been converted from foreign currency. Hence the odd amount of the donation.

This isn’t business as usual, that someone on Team Barry’s end made a decision at some point to dial down the security safeguards and his online vendor evidently agreed to go along.

To test the campaigns’ practices, this author bought two pre-paid American Express gift cards worth $25 each to donate to the Obama and McCain campaigns online. As required by law, the campaigns’ Web sites asked for, and National Journal provided, the donor’s correct name, location and employment. The cards were purchased with cash at a Washington, D.C., drugstore, and the campaigns’ Web sites were accessed through a public computer at a library in Fairfax County, Virginia.

The Obama campaign’s Web site accepted the $25 donation, but the McCain campaign’s Web site rejected it.

...with AVS also turned off, there is no way for the Obama campaign to know how many times someone has donated, and how much, even if a donor uses the same credit card each time.

October Match - Light's Bright, Sights...High

After the Rendezvous I should be ready for cold weather, but I'm not really, and we still have a lot of sunshine ahead. At this Match, as the sun came up I lost my front-sight in the brightness and the post seemed to blend in with the black of the bullseye.
If I dipped the post to silhouette it against the bright gravel foreground it seemed to grow in length - that explains the nice grouping tucked up into the Seven-ring above the X... I was shooting high and out of the 10-ring, pushing the front sight up and past the target center.

Shot a couple X's that would have otherwise been low 8's though, and scored a 394-2X. Oh well it wasn't horrible, the Black Hills match ammo works better in this than the Privi. I've got to work on my rapids though, and offhand, and prone...

Bill Ayers is the embodiment of the double-standard in Media reporting, a Mainstream Media that is so thoroughly in the tank for Obama that they now denying documented facts, but the facts remain: Obama did launch his political career during a "coffee" (a political meet and greet with big machers) in Bill Ayers' living room. The L.A. Times claimed that there is "no recorded basis" for John McCain’s statement that Obama launched his political career in Bill Ayers’s living room at an event organized by Ayers and his nutjob wife Bernardine Dohrn.

(Notably also the living room of Charles Manson groupie Bernardine Dohrn, and too, the living room of the child they were raising, mothered by a Weather Underground terrorist in jail for armed robbery.)

Barak "Spread The Wealth" Obama let us know in a rare moment of candor that his position on the Ownership Society is: What's Yours is Mine, in his appeal to The Many to take from The Few. This is an old political song that doesn't represent much in the way of change.

Frenzied attacks on "the rich" and "the wealthy" culminated in the ratification of the 16th Amendment in 1913, authorizing federal taxation of income from all sources without limit. The same year, historian Charles Beard published "An Economic Interpretation of the United States Constitution." This book – later debunked – suggested that the Constitution was the handiwork of a propertied elite serving its own interests. Such sentiment has poisoned American political thought ever since.

The top 1 percent in America pay about the same as the bottom 95 percent, according to the nonpartisan research group, The Tax Foundation. The bottom 50 percent paid just 3 percent. How do you cut taxes for "90 percent of America" when they contribute less than the top 1-percent?

From the time of Aristotle up until the foundation of this country history has shown that all known Democracies, as James Madison put it, were "incompatible with personal security or the rights of property." They were failures and collapsed into the dustbin of memory. A primary cause of the American Revolution was an unjust tax and the Founders knew very well how taxation could be used as a tool for one group to prey on another, which is why they made it a "first object of government" to protect personal property from unjust confiscation.

As Aristotle had noted in his time, and time and time again been shown correct, "If the majority distributes among itself the things of a minority, it is evident that it will destroy the city." Former Chief Justice John Marshall reduced that to, "The Power to tax involves the Power to destroy." Senator Obama's views are contrary to the basic values that America is about. We all have the opportunity to prosper, but it takes hard work. Nothing is free and you can't tax your way, or OUR WAY to prosperity.

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions, that and the souls of misguided people whose ideological dislocation from a rational perspective sought for them to impose a Utopian vision on a very differently structured reality - it just doesn't work that way Senator.

The most toxic of the sub-prime mortgages, the deals that tanked Fannie and Freddie, Lehman and Wachovia are called NINJAs. NINJA stands for "No Income, No Job or Assets." NINJA mortgages became popular in the last 3 years, during the peak boil of the Barney Frank and Chris Dodd era of "affordable mortgages" for all.

We're now looking to vote for a presidential candidate about whom we know less than Lehman knew about those mortgages. (And Lehman no longer exists... (my add))

Large segments of Senator Obama's history are missing from public record. We have no idea how he did in school, his transcripts are cloaked in secrecy. Same for his SAT and LSAT scores. No medical records have been made available. We do not know with whom he collaborated on his best selling book. We have no idea whom he represented while practicing law, nor do we know how he financed his degrees. We know that he used pot and cocaine, but not how much or for how long, or with whom. His record as an Illinois state senator has been sealed. We cannot know whether he ran for office as a member of a socialist party or was merely endorsed by it.

We don't know why he associated with the thoroughly corrupt ACORN and Rezko, the flaming terrorists Ayers and Dohrn and the marxists Wright and Phleger. We can't learn why he supported them, nor why they support him.

All we know is that he is a good guy. That we know because he tells us so.

He is the NINJA candidate, his future performance as unknown as the mortgages at Lehman.

Anti-Gun Obama Lies

Being able to own a gun doesn’t matter much if you have nowhere to buy them and nowhere to shoot them.

Obama has a very strong history of endorsing both Nowhere outcomes - total bans.
Some Obama-prone stoner-voters suggest that all they are concerned about is what he says he is going to do in the FUTURE - not at all about his past positions. That dear friends is the Kool-Aid talking, because that kind of belief in the lowliest scum of American Political Life - The Politician - can only come about through a scary and toxic level of delusion and denial.
The ONLY thing you can ever believe about a politician is what they have done in the past, and with whom they have spent time doing that. Ayers, Rezko, Wright, ACORN - keep it coming because it matters more than a hazy-bright Unicorn-filled rhetorical rainbow-Future. He lies about one thing, so what else might he be lying about?

Pro-Guns and the 2nd Amendment? He served on the board of the Joyce Foundation, the largest private funder of anti-gun research in the country where he endorsed a systematic campaign to undermine the 2nd Amendment with phony, paid-for, "scholarship" in legal journals in an effort to tip the balance of written material - the academic equivalent of stuffing the Ballot Box, the ACORN of Legalistical Academe. While a board member of the Joyce Foundation, Barack Obama wrote checks for tens of millions of dollars to extremist gun control organizations such as the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence and the Violence Policy Center.

"Sportsman For Obama"?? Sorry all you cammo-clad weekend woodsmen, hunting don't mean a thing. Oh ya-sure you spends a lotta money!! So? Da Comrad! You could also go hunting in The Soviet Union if you had the right connections.

I lobbied Barack Obama extensively while he was an Illinois State Senator. As a result of that experience, I know Obama's attitudes toward guns and gun owners better than anyone. The truth be told, in all my years in the Capitol I have never met a legislator who harbors more contempt for the law-abiding firearm owner than does Barack Obama...
While a state senator, Obama voted for a bill that would ban nearly every hunting rifle, shotgun and target rifle owned by Illinois citizens. That same bill would authorize the state police to raid homes of gun owners to forcibly confiscate banned guns.
Obama supported a bill that would shut down law-abiding firearm manufacturers including Springfield Armory, Armalite, Rock River Arms and Les Baer. Obama also voted for a bill that would prohibit law-abiding citizens from purchasing more than one gun per month....

Gunbloggers Rendezvous III

The drive up Teh Hillz was sunny and thankfully uneventful, and I got to Reno about 2:30 after leaving home at about 10:00AM. The new-to-me truck displayed better aerodynamics crossing the windy Davis Hippie Farm and Sacatomato Valley. I punched-in some additional gassage at 163 miles up the incline (Colefax), when I got down to 1/4 tank. I hauled-ass. Happily met-up with my bud JimmyB, and we took off on a beer-run to Costco - yay suds!
Everybody was super-psyched to set their Peeps of the Gub decoder rings to 6:00PST and punch in coordinates for the Grand Sierra Resort and connect with the Wheelbarrows of Cash Dispensers.
Wayne looked pooped-out but delivered, and in the aftermath put up with flouncy large local female GOP admirers in the handshake line. Chris Cox liked my Heller Kitty t-shirt. The best question of the post-op was a small Asian woman who said something along the lines of, "I'm scared, I escaped Communism and became a citizen five years ago (UPDATE: fourteen years ago) - what are we going to do if Obama wins?" Bottom line is we keep fighting, toe-to-toe, day after day, never give an inch. The Dispensers of Cash didn't being my wheelbarrow - I guess they're not hooked up with George Soros who funds the Left magnanimously through false-front foundations and other (UPDATE:)hyperbole total bullshit.
Then it snowed.

And I bought woolly socks at Cabela's.

Zeke, Larry Weeks, and Derek chased me out into the parking lot - it was cold. I'd never been to a Cabela's before and they have a lot of shit. And it was damn cold outside. Dinner at a Basque place which featured a cocktail I'd never heard of before - Praline Punch. Kinda like 40-proof Sangria. I had the lamb. It was damn cold outside at night too.

Saturday dawned clear and cold and we hightailed it to the range after a horribly overpriced buffet-breakfast. I wore two t-shirts and a CMP sweatshirt under my coat, which luckily had my MSR Windstopper gloves hidden away in its pocketses.
The wool socks were a boon. Even more of a boon was the reassurance granted by my little Noveske. 1-2-3 it hit well with iron sights.

The BigMonsterBoomer that Rick brought along made a deeply soulfull noise, but somehow I missed lining up behind the stock. Then came the magic, My New Hero, big guy Jim who lives in Reno, brought his NFA papered FNC.
YEE-HAW!!! What was that? DO IT AGAIN!!

I couldn't wipe the grin from my face... When you stand nearby, the empty casings fall on you like sweet raindrops all around - I found out while video taping Derek.
It was cold and the hot casings did no harm.

Obama - Dreams From My Ghostwriter

H/T to GunRendezvouser American Citizen at Traction Control for the inspiration. As John McCain observed, "For A Guy Who Has Already Authored Two Memoirs He Is Not Exactly An Open Book."
Also for a guy who's got to demonstrate his executive experience to America, "he remains strangely silent about his eight years (1994-2002) as a director of the Joyce Foundation." Is he a quiet guy just because of Ayers, or does that quietness include the shenanigans at the Joyce Foundation? Maybe he got a little help from another published author. What if Ayers wrote Obama’s books? That might very well explain his reticence at discussing his relationship.

In the great tradition of Democrat Politics the propaganda machine is revved-up and press-releases are pumped out, media-friendly fictions are created to enhance a candidate's resume and position - so why is it so hard to find actual Obama scholarship and publishing? We all know now that JFK (with whom Obama likes to compare himself) didn’t himself write Profiles in Courage. He was a lousy writer but a great talker (like Obama without the teleprompter). Jackie helped but JFK's ghost- and speech-writer was Ted "Ask-Not-What-Your-Country-Can-Do-For-You" Sorensen - and it even got him a Pulitzer Prize! That book helped established JFK's intellectual credentials and helped make him a credible presidential candidate. It launched his political career on a Presidential trajectory - much as Obama's two efforts are geared-towards.

Jack Cashill has written a book on intellectual fraud called Hoodwinked and says, "I developed an eye for literary humbug, and Dreams serves up an eyeful."

Prior to 1990, when Barack Obama contracted to write Dreams From My Father, he had written very close to nothing.

As an undergraduate, Obama had written what he justifiably calls some "very bad poetry." He published nothing under his own name in The Harvard Law Review, where he served as an editor and as president. And after leaving Harvard, he published nothing in its review or in any law journal.

Then, in 1995, this untested 33 year-old produced what Time Magazine has called--with a straight face-- "the best-written memoir ever produced by an American politician."

Obama’s memoir was published in June 1995. In January 1995, Ayers had chosen Obama, then a junior lawyer at a minor law firm, to chair the multi-million dollar Chicago Annenberg Challenge grants.

In the fall of that same year, 1995, Ayers and his wife, Weatherwoman Bernardine Dohrn, launched Obama’s ascent to political stardom with a fundraiser in their Chicago home.

In short, Ayers had the means, the motive, the time, the place and the literary ability to jumpstart Obama’s career. And, as Ayers had to know, a lovely memoir under Obama’s belt made for a much better resume than an unfulfilled contract over his head.

The Left loves to have their own poetry and prose published - including even such well known Nobel Laureate-frauds as Rigoberto Menchu (faked autobiography), and scientific ignoramus Algore's An Inconvenient Fiction (using among other things, computer-generated Antarctic ice shelves from the 2004 science fiction film "The Day After Tomorrow").

Socialist Dictators from Tajikistan to North Korea use the State to fund their insane literary efforts that every citizen has to watch and listen, sung or danced or enacted on TV - and taught in school as a part of their education. Education remember, Ayers is an Edu-guy.

Even more-so than the Mainstream Media in general, the Publishing Industry is heavily and famously pro-Democrat, so much so that most conservative books receive a negative (if not merely unresponsive) reception at best and are often pushed aside to marginal, smaller publishing houses despite an enormously successful and proven post-publishing sales record. Yet the Big Publishing Houses still offer huge advances to kack-handed and futile Lefty writers who flounder and flail (Pelosi’s book) as they seek to advance the narrative - as they so often like to put it, "By any means necessary."

Obama dissembles lethally when he describes Ayers as "just some guy in my neighborhood." He is much more than that and quite possibly, as I have argued, the real author of Dreams From My Father.

The publisher of Dreams, the openly liberal Peter Osnos, tells how Obama dumped his devoted long time agent after Dreams took off and then signed a seven-figure deal with Crown, using only a by-the-hour attorney.

Obama pulled off the deal after his election but before being sworn in as Senator, this way to avoid the disclosure and reporting requirements applicable to members of Congress.

Rain Not Rain

First rain since May!
But brief and gone away already. Highs forecast for the coming week into the 90's by Friday, Gunbloggerrondezvousezday.

The rain started and awoke me at 4:00AM and ended shortly before I left the house around 7:00 and drove down to Practice. The road was wet and greasy but no rain fell from the sky that was streaked with clouds being torn off the tops of the nearby hillsides like gray kleenex.
It brightened at the range but turnout was low, so instead of running a simulated Match with target changes and everything (as we usually do) we just practiced on individual things - whatever you wanted to do.
I shot some offhand, to reassure myself that I even could, and also tried to get some X's in prone for the same reason. It worked with a bunch of Nines offhand and this nice little group of X's prone. Maybe I should clean the rifle more frequently.

It cleared up again when we finished.

But it didn't remain that way, and I drove through a frog-strangler and a turd-floater before getting home again.


No more rain is expected for a while.

Obama's Anti Gun Executive Experience

David Hardy gives us a preview of an Obama-Administration and the obliteration of the 2nd Amendment - or should I say liquidation - a famously favorite word of the radical activist Left.

As a presidential candidate, Barack Obama must demonstrate executive experience, but he remains strangely silent about his eight years (1994-2002) as a director of the Joyce Foundation, a billion dollar tax-exempt organization. He has one obvious reason: during his time as director, Joyce Foundation spent millions creating and supporting anti-gun organizations.

There is another, less known, reason.

During Obama’s tenure, the Joyce Foundation board planned and implemented a program targeting the Supreme Court. The work began five years into Obama’s directorship, when the Foundation had experience in turning its millions into anti-gun “grassroots” organizations, but none at converting cash into legal scholarship.

The plan’s objective was bold: the judicial obliteration of the Second Amendment.

In 1999, midway through Obama’s tenure, the Joyce board voted to grant the Chicago-Kent Law Review $84,000, a staggering sum by law review standards. The Review promptly published an issue in which all articles attacked the individual right view of the Second Amendment.

In a breach of law review custom, Chicago-Kent let an “outsider” serve as editor; he was Carl Bogus, a faculty member of a different law school. Bogus had a unique distinction: he had been a director of Handgun Control Inc. (today’s Brady Campaign), and was on the advisory board of the Joyce-funded Violence Policy Center.

Bogus solicited only articles hostile to the individual right view of the Second Amendment, offering authors $5,000 each. But word leaked out, and Prof. Randy Barnett of Boston University volunteered to write in defense of the individual right to arms. Bogus refused to allow him to write for the review, later explaining that "sometimes a more balanced debate is best served by an unbalanced symposium."

Balanced??? This is an Executive (Barak Obama) who's main claim to academic fame rests on his credentials as a "Consdtitutional Scholar" - which means he's wrestled with the weighty issues of the Constitution in Law School (and elsewhere), and it seems he's prepared to pin certain inconvenient parts of it to the mat and render them void. Just as his Legal minions are threatening the 1st Amendment Rights of citizens who object to his record, he's equally happy and prepared to diminish those same citizens their 2nd Amendment Rights.
But on History, he's strangely silent on this aspect, suppressive even, and there's even a William Ayers connection - who wrote two grants for the Foundation.

The Pitchfork Has Three Prongs

The Leftist pitchfork has three prongs, with the Media in the middle.

...the United States government has embarked on two pieces of social engineering in the last few years. One was to make oil expensive as expensive as possible to drive people to greater use of alternative energy sources – because anything less would be irresponsible and destructive to the environment. The other was to enshrine home ownership (i.e., easy-to-obtain mortgages) as a new American right – because anything less would be unequal and racist.
None of us voted on these decisions - indeed, neither was even spoken about directly, much less debated. But nevertheless, both became national policy… and both have sparked national, now international, crises. Then, once they became crises, both were blamed on ‘greedy capitalism’, instead of what they really were: legislative interference into market forces.

One Prong Green, Two Prong Money...

Third Prong the massive and sustained and near-obliterating tidal wave of Media cheerleading for each of those unfunded mandates and initiatives - both on green-Energy issues and homeownership/mortgage lending.


The Left always has at least two prongs in the fire, since it is itself an act of suspension between identities: National and International, between Global and Local. For instance with Global Warming we have the internationalist effect, and with "local solar" comes the regional aspirations. And finally with "local provider "PG&E's exhortations to replace lightbulbs and conserve energy, we have a quasi Governmental agency with deep regulatory interconnections preforming it's Media Circus Propaganda Dance - trying to save the Polar Bears, Whales and rising shoreline from the horrible atacks and effects of Mankind. Mussolini would have liked that kind of cooperation and support from PG&E.
But the only kind of energy that environmentalists like is from theoretical sources that are not economically viable. Simply put, as Leftists they are completely confused about the real mechanics of actual-functioning economics. They worship in abstract a 19th Century amalgam of pseudo socio-economic theory that provides them with a vision of Utopia - one that is not even quite as bright as the Virgin of Gaudalupe seen in a burnt tortilla. But it is about as bright as the peyote allows.
