March Practice

LightsBrightRange.jpgAfter three weeks of rain and constant overcast and weekend rain we finally had a break in the weather window, and another teachable moment about light and sights.
The conditions were excellent but I was rusty and blind - I need to use my computer glasses or get a new perscription filled because I could not get a sharp focus on the front post. I shot a measly 412-2X. But it was a GREAT day and beautiful, until the next storm front moves in to blanket us down. (Click to Upscale)

You've got a weird obsession with guns, dude. You don't work for the postal service, do you?

They're just something to do to pass the time, and they photograph well. How do you like the flowers and outdoor scenery?

Lucky I didn't take you up on a day shooting this time round...I wouldn't want you to embarass yourself!

What a pretty rifle range! Where is it, if you don't mind my asking?

Hi Emily! It's the County Sports Park on the southern edge of San Jose. My club and another has the 200-yard range (when the cops don't need it). The green only lasts a few weeks, until lack of rain turns everything golden brown again for the rest of the year.

I hope someone moved that pickup truck before the range was declared hot.

Yes indeed - they had to to return to the firing line! That was taken after we finished the sighting shots and a ceasefire was called, all the rifles put on safe with flags in them, and we all had to stand-back from the line.
We don't have pits (the ground is serpentine rock and too hard to dig without major excavation equipment which would require a county EIA report), so we drive down and change targets by hand using someone's pickup-truck. :-)
